What you’ll be doing
Come help plant a mini-forest! Activities will include: Introductory talk and safety talk led by Nick Placing plants Spreading beneficial fungi Planting approximately 300 plants Watering
We will be asking participants to dress for the weather; if the weather is anticipated to be dangerous, this will be communicated to participants by Sunday evening/afternoon; there is a rain date available (Sept. 27) in case the event is not able to proceed on Sept. 23.
Sunscreen will be provided on site. Bug spray will be provided;
Registration form intake – ask participants if they have any allergies to stinging insects or plants?
Poison ivy (etc.) will be pointed out to participants, participants are asked to wear long pants, shoes with a good sole, long sleeve shirts recommended to avoid sunburn.
Tool usage: shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows We will demonstrate proper technique for using tools and equipment, and provide a tool storage area during the event when tools are not in use.
Please bring: ¨ Close-toed shoes ¨ Long pants (where long grasses or prickly weeds may be present)
¨ Garden Gloves ¨ Weather appropriate Clothing (Sun Hats, Mittens, Raingear, etc.) ¨ Hi-Vis Vest (site location dependent) ¨ Sunscreen ¨ Sunglasses/ Safety glasses (optional) ¨ Water bottle ¨ Light snack ¨ Epi-Pen / allergy medications in case of emergency ¨ Bug Spray ¨ Hair Elastics ¨ Kneeling Pads ¨ First Aid Kit with ice packs, bandaids, tensor bandages, sting wipes, nail clippers, tweezers ¨ Shade Tent ¨ Volunteer waivers ¨ Face Masks (where appropriate)
