Saunter Nature: Finding wonder in the world around us
Jeannine Kralt is a dedicated Field Naturalist based in Grey County, near the Saugeen Bruce Peninsula. Raised in Canadian Shield Country, she developed a deep appreciation for the Niagara Escarpment as an adult. As an avid life-long hiker, her interest in nature and nature connection started at a young age. Over the past decade she has enjoyed taking a closer look at the world around her, taking pictures to share what she sees. Her favourite times spent in nature have been adventures with her family.

An Engineer by training, Jeannine spent the first half of her career with a multinational corporation and later transitioned to working with smaller charities and not-for-profits. Along the way, her passion for ecology grew, fuelled by courses in botany and countless hours exploring the natural world. These experiences have led her to participate in bioblitzes and species inventories, where she continues to hone her knowledge and share her love for nature. Her interests span ecology, geology, and fostering a deeper connection with the natural world. She shares these passions widely, including through her blog, Saunter Nature (Saunter Nature on Facebook and Saunter Nature on Instagram), where she documents her outdoor adventures. When she’s not out on a trail or exploring nature preserves, Jeannine dedicates her time as the founding Youth Hiking Coordinator for the Sydenham Bruce Trail Club and serves as Secretary and for the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club, and a Hike Leader for both Clubs, as well as acting as Stewardship Coordinator on the Board of the Owen Sound Field Naturalists.
