What you’ll be doing
Meet Please at 10am at the back field.
We’re planning 3 Workbees in total this spring: PREPPING, PLANTING and POLISHING. This first Workbee will be all about prepping. Don’t forget there’s a bioswale with little check-dams going in! Site preparation and material sourcing makes up around 75% of the work. What to bring?
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: sunscreen, hat, appropriate footwear, your own water bottle, and your snacks if you're not really into fruits and vegetables. 🙂
RECOMMENDED: work gloves, spade, rake, and bring your smiles for the next newsletter and for our videographer!
POSSIBLY IF YOU CAN: wooden or metal stakes to mark trees, cardboard without plastic for smothering weeds, any light fencing material, mushroom/fungus spores, coffee grinds or nicely composted matter.
The location of each tree will also need to be marked with a cedar stake, for rapid planting, possibly sign ID, and water collection. The area is likely to be fenced with native materials, and will certainly be mulched. We are still looking for some materials from established community networks (at-cost or by donation): wooden or metal stakes to mark trees, cardboard without plastic for smothering weeds, and light fencing material. For more info, or to donate, please ask regenerategreybruce@gmail.com.
We hope you’re as excited as we are. This is all going to shake down very quickly and the forest will be growing before you can say Miyawaki Forest!.
