CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

The 2nd Youth Climate Action Conference in Grey Bruce will happen THIS fall, on November 21st in Owen Sound. Youth last school year were incredibly eager to participate, and to work together with youth from other schools on community projects.

Organizers are currently seeking: Speakers / presenter / programming ideas for the AM session Volunteers (day-of facilitators + mentors after it concludes) Funding (lunch, speaker honorariums, and funding for action projects) Interpretive/Fun booths at the hallway climate fair!

What: The idea is that these youth leaders from Grade 6, 7 and 8 will be inspired by local climate connectors presenting in the morning, and then we will have facilitators supporting their climate action brainstorming and project building in the afternoon. The climate action projects, initiated by the kids themselves connecting their interests and passions to climate action, will be community based, and will be showcased (whether finished or ongoing) at Earth Day Festival in April 2024 at the OS Farmer's Market!

Where and When: The Youth Climate Action Conference 2.0 will be held at Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound on Nov 21, 2023 from 9am-3pm

Who: About 15 local schools are invited to bring 5 students each to participate in the conference. 
Ideally if schools have a student council or environmental team, it would be these student leaders applying to come. 
Having a teacher (or parent) chaperone for the 5 students on Nov 21 is required.
